Away from the screen: Unpack the shopping together and sort it into fridge, pantry and fruit bowl.
- Easy
- Two groups that look very different.
- Medium
- Three to five groups, and close names like fruit or vegetables.
- Hard
- Things that fit two groups, and one that does not belong.
- Start on Easy, even if it looks too simple. Success first, then move up when your child wants to.
- Use real things alongside the screen: cups for sizes, coins for money, a calendar on the fridge.
- Wait a little longer than feels natural. Quiet thinking time is part of it.
- If they pick something you did not expect, ask them to tell you about it. Their reason is often interesting.
- Pointing, signing, a device or a picture card are all real answers. Speaking is not the goal here.
- Stop when it stops being fun. A few minutes, often, beats a long sitting.
- These are games, not assessments. If you have concerns, talk to a teacher or speech pathologist.
